Meet Matt

Get to know Matt

Matt served his country between 1991 and 1998 as a paratrooper and in the 10th Special Forces Group. He is a decorated combat veteran who was awarded the Army Commendation Medal after 5 years in Germany and Bosnia.

After earning his degree in Business Management, the events of 9/11 drove Matt to once again answer the call to serve by working for multiple Federal Agencies until 2011. He and his wife, Michele, operate a rental business with homes in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. They recently resized their business so Matt could turn his complete attention to serving his beloved home state of South Carolina, first in the State House of Representatives and now in the State Senate.

Matt, his wife, and their three children live on Johns Island

My Beliefs

I’m an unapologetic conservative, during and AFTER the political primaries are over. I will raise and never stop raising that winning bold banner for you in Columbia.

I support school choice, especially for minority children that Democrats want to keep locked in failing schools.

I am pro-life. That’s why I’m proud to have passed the Fetal Heartbeat Act. Meanwhile, my opponent voted with democrats to oppose the Act and then bragged about it on CNN

I fought to overturn Charleston County’s firearms ban on over 11,000 acres of public lands.

Meanwhile, my opponent was the only Republican to vote against the Open Carry with Training Act

Full transparency – Current reporting requirements fail to notify you, the taxpaying citizen, of conflicts of interest

No industry-killing legislation. My opponent voted to pass onerous insurance requirements on food & beverage establishments that are decimating small businesses throughout the state

Road maintenance must be given a higher percentage of state transportation dollars.

My opponent has aggressively opposed conservative positions at every turn. Now it’s our turn to oppose her progressive agenda and put real conservatives back in office
